@GigaByte4711 apparently the whole system has to be reset to change the owner.
TBQH it's probably some weird relic of the fact we have separate companies providing the wholesale and retail aspects of power supply. It's a convoluted mess as a result of privatisation and who could have seen that coming right?
Well, as a man that has to cancel his entire internet/phone package, just so he can have them on one bill, I feel for you.
On the up side, there's never been a better opportunity to invest in a whole-house UPS, right?
@GigaByte4711 The fact that I will have solar panels generating power for nobody just above my head the whole day won't annoy me at all.
Getting a fully capable off-grid setup with batteries to keep things ticking is quite an investment though, and one I don't think I'll be able to do for quite some time.
I mainly jest, I looked at the price of getting something similar for my place, and it made me cry a little. I just have my UPS powering my server rack, modem and WiFi. There may be no lights or TV, but my laptop and phone can still browse reddit over WiFi!
@GigaByte4711 I have just one UPS right now, and that'll be on the fish tanks in case I need to run the heaters for a bit later in the day. 😀
Agreed. Pets always come first!
@GigaByte4711 should be fine, it's not going to be too cold tomorrow, but it's an open-ended outage window so I really want to have something on standby for the fish just in case.
They all got some fresh water tonight in preparation for a few hours without filtration.
In comparison, shutting down the household servers in the morning is a piece of cake to this.
@mike that's good to hear!
