Current status: got my mind on my money and my money on my mind.

Important arrived in the post today!

A few select odds and ends in here, I'm going to have to make some decisions about what to put in and what to leave until next year I think.

Huh well it seems I'm not as ineligible to donate blood now as I was 30ish years ago when I last tried and was told I never could again.

Appointment booked!

it's 33 degrees outside and my neighbour is walking around in his yard wearing a long-sleeved jacket that's zipped up halfway. I am now concerned that he may be a psychopath.

Tiny cornfield update! A couple of the cornstalks are looking substantial and starting to grow rapidly. 2-3 of them seem to have failed but there's no real indication as to why.

I planted a companion bean at the base of each stalk, and most of them have sprouted, I guess they now just get more wrapped up as they get taller.

Two butternut pumpkins have been planted in the middle of the cornfield too, and they're starting to grow out too.

The Replay Foundation, my employer, announced their liquidation today. This means no more Pinburgh. It also means I'm Officially out of a job for the forseeable, so if y'all wouldn't mind boosting a link to my other source of income Improbable Island, that'd be just super.

It's a silly online game and it doesn't pay as much as fixing pinball machines but heck it's what I've got right now, and this winter's probably gonna be a hairy one.

Oh man someone at work has stumbled onto the great idea of creating a dedicated FB account for the company to manage its page, and they're in for a world of pain and I am not going to lift a damned finger to stop them. Pass the popcorn.

We don't even need a fucking page there. It's a stupid endeavour.

Kitten update: it's a dusty spot she's found, but there's a nice breeze blowing through there and it's significantly cooler there than outside. She found the new, better spot I put her water bowl in too. She looks almost relaxed and didn't even twitch when I came to say hello.

Oooh the PCI card with 2 real serial ports on it arrived, maybe tonight I'll take a crack at pretending my desktop PC is a 90s-era ISP and getting my 486 online.

I have bought things for my new car, even though I haven't actually taken delivery of it yet. The highlights are a moderately-sized solar panel and controller, and a small 12V refrigerator. I just need to pick up a decent sized battery and I have an excellent setup for some extended stops.

Last time I spent about 3-4 days camping in near-desert, I really didn't mind the heat but I really got sick to death of drinking warm water.

I don't need luxury, but there are some little things ...

Wow, some capsicum seeds I swear I started trying to germinate about a month ago have finally started to sprout. Just as I was about to dump them, too.

Now to figure out where to pot them because I filled the seedling tray with carrots yesterday, assuming I had nothing else to put in there.

Maybe I need to run down to Bunnings at lunchtime and get another couple of those cheap trays because the one I've been using is great.

OK, Meech has now jumped down and resumed his occupation of the garden furniture, and little princess has retained her rooftop dominion unchallenged.

Meech noticed the tiny kitten on the shed roof this morning, and immediately jumped up there. There was a little growling on both sides, but Meech has now kind of settled down, and is lying on his side on the opposite end of the roof.

I think tiny princess is a bit too scared to move right now but Meech isn't being as territorial as I was worried he would be.

Today's kitten status: still a bit nervous about me getting too close, but definitely more relaxed when I'm around. She'll watch me moving about and even close her eyes as long as she knows I'm maintaining a respectful distance.

She loves being on rooftops, luckily there are many around.

She's eating well and doing some more confident jumps around the shed. Still a bit uncertain about her abilities to land though.
