I worked for a domain name registrar for several years on front line support and I'm here to tell you never to register a domain with a hyphen in it unless you really love saying "hyphen" a lot.
"What's your email address?"
"Mike at Mike Solutions dot com dot au. Oh no, with a hyphen after Mike. It's Mike hyphen solutions dot com dot au. No, dot au, not dot com. Yeah Mike at Mike hyphen solutions dot com dot au. Also our website is at WWW dot pro hyphen business hyphen tools hyphen international dot com. No, that one's not dot au. Our SEO guy set it up, yeah how did you know?"
- A conversion I have had too many times for one life.
@mike which one
@belljar I live in Melbourne. I'll give you one guess. 😀
@mike one of the places i worked for got bought up by MelbIT back in the day, no love lost jumping from that ship haha
@belljar yeah it wasn't a job I regret taking, it let me do weekend and evening work when I really needed that so I could be around for my kid in the kinder/prep years without being poor.
No real nostalgia though. Heh. I still have a big MelbIT/WebCentral/DomaiNZ bag I use to cart clothes around in when I go on trips though. That was a good freebie.
