I've spent a few weeks in the default #gnome desktop environment that comes with the latest #ubuntu, and ... I almost like it.
And it's a close almost, but ... I'm just not quite happy. It's little things, like the lockscreen designed for a touchscreen or that the system preferences don't quite include everything I consider "basic".
Little things. Fixable things. Maybe another iteration and it'll click with me - but it's few enough that I'm not actively looking for an alternative yet.
@mike I had an enlightenment moment when I realized I can just start typing my password without swiping up on the lockscreen... that should be more obvious in the design :P

I'm honestly just tired of evaluating desktops and UIs every year or so and I kinda just want to get some work done.
